Week eight photo

Here is my week eight photo. Some sage once said you can't grow a beard in a moment of passion - which is very true. Eight weeks this has been growing so far and whilst I know it's getting long it's hard to see in this photo. Perhaps it'll make a sudden break for it? I'll wake up in the morning and be unable to move because Debs is sleeping on my beard! Well perhaps not.
I am getting to the stage where I long to have it trimmed. Still I have a target and I'm determined to stick to it - another four weeks to go then (or should I say grow then)!
This is George V, Brtiain's king during the first world war.
An interesting but trivial fact - Britain had monarchs named George in both World Wars. Anyway George V had a good beard. He had an imperial size moustache which I'm not sure about - but can't be faulted on regal grounds. I don't think my tashe is quite up to this standard - but then we are meant to look up to monarchs.I don't know a huge amount about George V - I think he was very much in his father's shaddow, Edward VII was larger than life in more than one way! George's son, Edward VIII turned out to be a Nazi sympathiser and has become notorious in recent years because of it. In the end it was Edward's brother George (who became George VI) who became monarch during the war years. What would the English speaking world have looked like if Edward had remained on the throne? Would Queen Elizabeth still have ascended to the throne on the death of her uncle, because of course Edward died childless.
I do know that it was George V who was responsible for changing the family name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to the current Windsor in order to disassociate his line from Germany. Anyway he has a regal beard.
