Jeremiah 14-15 This is for your own good!

For those who have been following my quiet time through Jeremiah there is a small break where I haven't blogged my Bible study.

You know what it's like: the nurse is approaching you with an impossibly large needle full of something unpleaseant and she says something along the lines of "this is for your own good!" And you think "Yeah! Right!" As the needle goes in you try not to look but the pain is strong whether you look or not. The evil liquid is now flowing through your veins, you wince. The needle is withdrawn and the pain calms down. It was for your own good and whatever it was that was injected is doing you good already you hope.

The Lord said,
Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; 15:11

This is still fire and brimstone as only Jeremiah can do it but here God is at pains to point out this is for the Israelites own good.
